TangoTab's Voices For Hunger

Everyone has a voice deep inside that moves them to act…“Voices for Hunger” is a social campaign presented by TangoTab to raise and share that voice. We want to hear your thoughts on Hunger. What does Hunger mean to you? What are you doing to fight Hunger? Or what motivates you to be a better person to the people around you?

What is TangoTab?
TangoTab is an app that provides free restaurant deals while fighting hunger locally. Every time you dine out, TangoTab donates a meal to feed a person in need.

By being a better person to those around you, you gain the ability to positively influence others. I feel it is our responsibility to ensure that the generation behind us is instilled with the appropriate morals and values.

"As a casting producer in Los Angeles, I see hunger in the homeless every time I walk down the street. I help by purchasing food for those in need whenever I can. This reminds me to be grateful and mindful for all I have.”

"I have a hunger for life and am motivated by the human spirit. At any moment any of our lives could change incomprehensibly and we could find ourselves in need. How it happens to another is not our concern. How we can help is all we have to ask."

"Hunger to me means that a person does not have their basic needs met.  My mother is an advocate for homeless people in Australia. She has received many awards for the work she does with the homeless community and feeding the homeless and hungry in my hometown of Australia. She has instilled in me the understanding that we are all equal and when one has an abundance of one thing it is our responsibility to share with those less fortunate.

I am motivated  to be a better person to the people around me because I look at life as a gift. Everything we do can have a positive or negative affect on every person we come into contact with. I believe it is important to have a positive affect on the world and on those in it. It is the little things we do on a daily basis that can make a huge impact in the long run.”

"No child or family should have to go hungry. Hunger has far-reaching impacts into our society today, with more people going to bed hungry tonight than anyone might expect. I am excited to partner with TangoTab, a company that is helping consumers and restaurants battle this important issue, because just like in life and on the football field, accomplishing something big takes a team approach."

Hunger is definitely something that can be beat as long as we keep fighting.  I find the best way to fight hunger is get involved in your own community with the local food bank and volunteer your time. When I first got involved with the fight against hunger I thought all I could do was donate money which of course is still needed but without people volunteering our time the money has a hard time getting out and making a difference. Along the way I have found other avenues to fight such as passing out meals during the holiday season or delivering “Meals on Wheels” but it’s not only during the holiday season that hunger attacks our community so I make it a point to volunteer at least once a month at the food bank – it only takes 2 ½ hours of my time to deliver over 6 thousand meals which is well worth the time out of my day. As I said before we can beat hunger as long as we keep fighting and fight together as one.

"I love volunteering and joining the fight against hunger. No one should have to wonder where there next meal will come from or if there even is a next meal soon. I like knowing that my small steps to help the local community added with the steps of others we will one day defeat hunger."

I believe first impressions are everything. I’m usually in a positive mood, so that when I do meet people they walk away with a positive impression.

My happiness and purpose come from seeing others happy. Doing good for others generates good karma.  My Fulfillment in life is to know that if I can touch someone’s heart by giving back, my job on earth is accomplished and all through the grace of God.

"As a Realtor, I see the struggles that people deal with and many times I can’t help them due to unforeseen circumstances (health crisis, death, divorce, sudden job loss) that can cause huge financial troubles for these families and individuals. It’s extremely difficult having to turn down hundreds of adults and their children every year, which means there are hundreds of people living on the street with no means of a place to live or food. Since we can’t find these people homes, I at least wanted them to be fed. Hungry humans make bad decisions and those decisions affect everyone around them. If even one meal a day will help the hungry make better decisions, all people will benefit from it.”Chris O. - The Colony, TX

A guiding principle of mine is that my compassion to serve be greater than my compulsion to survive. My dream is that we are a society of health and wellness, but health is impossible without the basic nourishment that so many in our community go without. While many experience the hunger of a physical need for food, we are all hungry for connection, a universal need for love and belonging. It is connection that motivates my compulsion to serve. By coming together and helping one another we can eliminate this hunger. I am grateful for the passionate people that gave us TangoTab, an easy solution that allows everyone to make a difference. TangoTab provides opportunities to volunteer with them in the community and when our lives become too busy they make it as easy as a press of a button when we sit down at a local restaurant. I will work to end hunger with TangoTab.”Demetra M. - Dallas, TX

“Food is a necessity. So it’s necessary to feed those who don’t have any. Believing otherwise would be inhumane. If I deserve to eat, so do they.”
